i play games and rant about games
WARNING: Blog may contain random bouts of pottymouth - edited January 2012lol, that's the WORST! Especially when random townies start spawning with no knickers on. Scandalous!
I think it's something I'll laugh about years from now, if I ever think back on it. But being in the moment as we are now, I agree, it's totally aggravating.0 - edited January 2012This is why I havent used the exchange to download in over a year. Hidden files and bugs are all over it. Its just so much safer and easier to go through the real creators

lol but yeah it stinks!0 - edited January 2012I never add a download from the Exchange directly into my game. Instead, I always use the Save File option which is next to the green arrow. I then save it to my Desktop. I then use a combintion of Sims 3 Multi-Installer and Delphy's Dashboard to review the individual package files within the Sims3pack file. I delete the ones that are bad cc or otherwide do not want in my game. I then move the remaining packages to my Mods/Packages folder. Saves me from picking up a lot of 'garbage'.0
- edited January 2012I go to this site for sims: http://simsforsale.tumblr.com/
- edited January 2012I love to dress my sims up and change what they are wearing. I just noticed I'm lacking in the teen department cloths wise. I'm a comp plum and it seems when i try to dl thing from other sites I always have trouble. And to be honest didn't know there where other site to go to. Sons says I'm too old to learn. lol

Sorry
Been lucky, never had it with the sims 3 but picky anyway!
always best to stick with creators you trust0 - edited January 2012That's why I don't use the exchange or download sims. I can understand why you'd be peeved.0
- edited January 2012I don't even know where you'd get those 'nude bottom' files to include with Sims -- my creations are all CC free (I've done recolors of game items in Create A Style, does that count?), and I don't even use store stuff on my Sims or lots that I upload. I always go through and uninstall any CC that slips through on a download.Check out my Gallery! Origin ID: justme22

- edited January 2012i feel your pain it always happens to me..its very annoying
- edited January 2012Nik24X7, what is Sims 3 Multi-installer? I only know about Custard and the Dashboard. I always screen my Exchange sims downloads with Custard, but it doesn't always catch the bad stuffs. I'd love to have another way to screen them. The naked tops and pants really aggravate me.
Mylita0 - edited January 2012All of the pets I have downloaded from the exchange have nude bottoms.
- edited January 2012With my sims everything was going along just find no nudes, then she got pregnamt and changed to maternity clothes, then she had nude bottom, I went into the change outfit and gave her some pants, well then she had no top! I went in to get her a top then she had no pants, so on. I had to just delete her as I could not play her.
- edited January 2012I had that problem once. I found them in the 'install' section on my launcher. It took a while to find them, but I think the description said 'nude bottom' or something like that..it's been a while. The only thing I download from the exchange anymore is patterns. I go to www.lorandiasims3.com for all my clothing cc. Rosethesims2 has good cc too. If you choose to go to either lorandiasims3 or rosethesims2, if you click on 'links' there will be site links that you can go to. The sims resource also has some free cc downloads. Another one you can go to for free cc downloads is www.sims3fanatics.com
Hope you can find that annoying cc and get rid of it. I was appalled and shocked and went crazy trying to find it because my 13 year old plays my sims games too.0 - edited January 2012
I apologize that I didn't see your question until just now. It's actually called Sims 3 Multi-Extractor. I guess I was thinking of the Sims 2 equivalent which was called Multi-Installer. Anyway, here is a link:Nik24X7, what is Sims 3 Multi-installer? I only know about Custard and the Dashboard. Please let me walk you through my process as follows:
1. I download an item from the Sims 3 Exchange using the Save File button. Since I usually use Mozilla Firefox, the default location to save the file is the Downloads folder on my Desktop. Don't confuse this folder with the Downloads folder for The Sims 3. The Desktop one is where anything I download via Firefox is placed. The file that is saved will be a Sims3Pack file.
2. I then open the Sims 3 Multi-Extractor program. This program takes the Sims3Pack file(s) from one folder, opens them, and then places the package files contained within them into a destination folder. I have it configured to point to the Downloads folder on my Desktop as its source and I have created a special-purpose folder to place the resulting package files. I called this destination folder Extracted Packages. It is iimportant to NOT, i repeat NOT place this detination folder beneath The Sims 3 folder. This is important because I don't want the packages to be included whenever I launch the game. Not yet, anyway. I want to review them first using Delphy's Dashboard.
3. I then launch Delphy's Dashboard program. This program is also available from Mod The Sims. I have it configured to analyze and report on the package files in the Extracted Packages folder (see #2). This program lets me see what type of package they are (Sim, hairstyle, clothing, accessory, etc.). It also highlights bad CC. I check the checkboxes next to those items as well as any packages that I want to remove. There is a button at the bottom of the screen that I click to delete them. Once done, I exit the program which then saves the results. When this is done, the remaining package files in my Extracted Packages folder are the good ones that I want in my game. I then move them to the My Documents/Eelectronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder.
The next time I start up the game, the packages will show up in the game. I'm done!
Please note that while this process might sound complicated, it is actually very, very simple to do. Good luck!
Best Regards,
Nik0 - edited January 2012I download from the exchange all the time to give my sims spouses or houses. If I find some bad CC in my game I look for it to uninstall. If I can't find it I just uninstall all my CC and go back to downloading like I usually do. CC isn't that important to me that I mind not having it.0

worth a look then check out the Launcher for any matching files in your game
The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
Marcus Aurelius - edited January 2012I just reported like 5 sims that were naked or had messed up toddlers on the exchange. I swear, why does it take the mods so long to delete this plum
- edited January 2012You just have to be careful. Whenever I notice something funky in my game I closely look at anything I downloaded. Then I uninstall and delete it from my folders after double checking Crinrict's site.
- edited January 2012I keep taking nude bottoms outta my game and they keep finding their way into it. I'm not all that annoyed by them tho, they do make for some rather silly moments at parties when sims show up and are rockin out with this bits out.
If it weren't for the stretchy thing the bottoms do to my sims, I'd just ignore them. - edited January 2012The easiest way to avoid this is to download CC from trusted creators, and just to avoid the exchange all together.
NOTE: My mesh replacements can be safely mixed with Phaenoh's texture replacements, they do not conflict.
These are default replacement meshes for female adults and young adults.
They replace swimwear, underwear, and nude top / bottom.
(teen defaults in different thread)
They have the following changes (see thumbnails)
- no wasp waist, especially on curvy morphs
- no buttcracks / wedgies
- Barbie shaped bikini area
- no leg/shoulder creases on swim/undie meshes
- shapelier breasts (no underboob crease on top, less saggy curvy morphs)
- pregnancy morphs (added to two swimsuits, top/btm match HP and my separates)
curvy morph shown here
blonde model is regular size, redhaired model is curvy
preg morphs
To let pregnant sims wear any clothing, I use Squinge's mod.
Polygon Counts:
same as Maxis
meshes replaced
afTopNaked / afBottomNaked (these two meshes are used for clothing and for showering naked, so your showering sims won't have buttcracks or underboob creases while naked, but if you play with blur on, like me, that won't be an issue)
afBodyUnderwear
afBodySwimwear
afBodySwimwearSporty
afBodySwimwearCleavage
Additional Credits
beige skirt: mix and match businesswear by goderguy
blue bikini bottom: by Rise sims
blue tanktop: by lolie2
short red hair: by dustfinger
skin: Idolatry of Flesh by HP (faces changed by me)
eyes: Keen Eyes by Phaenoh
eyebrows: dragonmandy's brows made into defaults by me
Thanks
Thanks to HystericalParoxysm, whose default undies mesh I used as a starting point. Thanks to the makers of SimPE, MilkShape, plugins (wes_h and demon), LithUnwrap, and GIMP, for great tools.
