Hey, look at that! A reasonably named set to add to my collection (putting aside the meaningless word, Zestiria, of course). Even though the latest entry of the Tales franchise is releasing to both the PS3 and PS4, it’s only the latter that’s receiving the Tales of Zestiria Collector’s Edition. This whopping $129.99 set is available for sale from most major retailers, including Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy and continues the trend of increasingly expensive collector’s editions for the franchise. Let’s open it up and see if it’s even worth it.
The box is actually quite small, which is surprising given the price and how massive its predecessor was.
If you recall the Tales of Symphonia Collector’s Edition, this set operates very much like that one in that there’s a see through outer layer that you have to remove before getting to the actual box.
Okay, enough box shots. Let’s see what’s inside.

Let’s start with that art book. It’s actually hard cover, which is nice. No more of that flimsy soft cover crap.
Bandai Namco has revealed the Tales of Zestiria Collector's Edition, which will include a variety of extra goodies as well as DLC packs.

Looks like we’ve got a figure set in here time. Much more space conscious than those statues we’ve been getting, let’s just comp…
HOLY CRAP, THERE ARE DISEMBODIED… oh, that’s them.
This here’s the steelbook case, which I love getting.
There’s a nice little surprise to boot, in the form of the game’s soundtrack.
The game even comes with it’s own anime OVA. Not sure if they plan on selling this separately down the road, but it’s definitely a cool bonus.
And, of course, the game itself.

The DLC codes as well as a full manual are inside.

The set is definitely expensive, but I’ve gotta say, I really like it. I don’t have any qualms about anything included so far. It has a soundtrack and an art book, both of which I regard as collector’s edition staples. And it even has a full color manual. It’s leagues better than the Dragon Quest Heroes set I picked up last week. Bandai Namco really seems to grasp their audience for this game. So long as they keep it up with subsequent sets, I’ll keep picking them up.
